#### Day 1: Arrival in Apia
Our Samoan adventure began as we landed in Apia, the charming capital of Samoa. Nestled on the coast of Upolu, one of Samoa’s two main islands, Apia is the perfect blend of urban and tropical. We checked into our seaside resort and were greeted with fresh flower leis and ice-cold niu (coconut water). That evening, we strolled along the Palolo Deep Marine Reserve, watching the sun set spectacularly into the Pacific.
#### Day 2: Cultural Immersion
To understand Samoa’s rich culture, we spent our second day at the Samoa Cultural Village in Apia. It was a deeply enriching experience as we learned about traditional tattooing, tapa cloth making, and wood carving. The highlight was participating in an ‘ava ceremony, a significant cultural ritual involving a ceremonial drink made from a local plant.
#### Day 3: Exploring Natural Wonders
We dedicated our third day to exploring the natural beauty of Upolu. Our first stop was the To Sua Ocean Trench, an enormous natural swimming hole connected to the ocean through underground caverns. Climbing down the wooden ladder to swim in its emerald waters felt like descending into another world. Later that day, we visited Togitogiga Waterfall for a refreshing swim.
#### Day 4: Road Trip Around Upolu
Renting a car gave us flexibility to explore at our own pace. We drove around Upolu, stopping at picturesque villages and sampling local foods like palusami (baked coconut cream wrapped in taro leaves) and oka (raw fish salad). The scenic drive along the coast with views of pristine beaches and lush forests was mesmerizing.
#### Day 5: A Day At The Beach
No honeymoon in Samoa would be complete without a beach day! We spent our fifth day lounging on Lalomanu Beach, known for its white sands and clear blue waters. Snorkeling here was phenomenal; the coral reefs teemed with colorful fish just a few meters from shore.
#### Day 6: Savai’i Excursion
On day six, we took a short ferry ride to Savai’i, Samoa’s largest but less developed island. Here we visited some of its famous sites like Afu Aau Waterfall —a beautiful cascade into a swimming hole surrounded by lush greenery— and explored Alofaaga blowholes where seawater shoots up through lava tubes creating spectacular geysers.
#### Day 7: Relaxation Before Departure
Our final day was reserved for some much-needed relaxation before our journey back home. We revisited some of our favorite spots around Apia, shopped for souvenirs—such as wooden kava bowls—and enjoyed another tranquil sunset together by Mulinu’u Peninsula.
### Reflections
Our week-long honeymoon in Samoa exceeded all expectations; it was filled with adventure yet provided ample opportunities for relaxation amidst breathtaking landscapes both above and beneath its turquoise waters. From immersing ourselves in local traditions to exploring untouched natural beauties and relaxing on sun-soaked beaches — each moment felt unique yet unmistakably Samoan.
Saying goodbye wasn’t easy; however, leaving with countless unforgettable memories made it slightly bearable knowing that part of our hearts will always remain in beautiful Samoa.
