## Luxembourg: Europe’s Richest Country – A Birthday Travel Vlog by Desi Couple On The Go

As we embarked on our Euro trip to celebrate a special birthday, the grand duchy of Luxembourg, often cited as Europe’s richest country per capita, was at the top of our travel itinerary. Join us, a Desi couple who love to explore the globe, as we dive into the heart of this fascinating little country that boasts a big reputation.

### Why Luxembourg?

Luxury and charm are woven into the very fabric of Luxembourg. Nestled between Belgium, France, and Germany, its strategic location has historically been of immense importance and influence despite its compact size. Known for its fortress cities and stunning landscapes, Luxembourg is also a modern hub with its dynamic financial sector and European Union institutions.

### First Impressions

Arriving in Luxembourg City on a crisp autumn morning felt like stepping into a fairy tale. The city’s old quarter is a UNESCO World Heritage site and it’s instantly clear why. Meandering through cobblestone streets surrounded by medieval fortifications paints an enchantive picture reminiscent of old European charm mixed with affluent modernity.

### Exploring the Capital

Our vlog kicks off at the iconic Adolphe Bridge, offering stunning views of the Pétrusse Valley – perfect for those scenic shots! We then weave through the Chemin de la Corniche, often referred to as “Europe’s most beautiful balcony,” which provides panoramic vistas over the Alzette River.

The Palace of the Grand Dukes (Palais Grand-Ducal) was another highlight. While access inside is limited unless you’re here in summer for guided tours, just admiring its Renaissance architecture from outside was breathtaking.

We couldn’t miss Grund, one of Luxembourg City’s oldest neighborhoods. The charming area beside Alzette river is filled with cozy cafes and lively bars. Here we enjoyed local dishes; ‘Judd mat Gaardebounen,’ smoked pork collar with broad beans proved why Luxembourgish cuisine deserves more recognition!

### Beyond the City

On day two we rented a car—highly recommended for exploring beyond city limits—and headed north to explore more natural landscapes. The Mullerthal region or “Little Switzerland” enchanted us with its lush forests and cascading waterfalls providing ample opportunities for hiking and scenic photography.

The Vianden Castle located near the German border was another striking stop. This restored medieval castle stands majestically atop a hill overlooking Vianden town; it feels like being transported back in time!

To get even more out of our journey, Echternach made it onto our list as well; this oldest town in Luxembourg captivated us with its ancient abbey and vibrant dancing procession held annually—as narrated by locals.

### Reflections at Sunset

Wrapping up our tour back in Luxemburg City at Place d’Armes—a lively square buzzing with energy from street performers to alfresco diners—gave us time to reflect on our journey around this rich country both in history and prosperity.

As night fell over Place d’Armes illuminating city lights against twilight skies made for cinematic footage concluding our travel vlog perfectly—an end to an unforgettable birthday amidst Europe’s riches offered by charismatic Luxembourg.

### Conclusion

Luxembourg might be small but it packs diversity from historical riches to natural beauty all wrapped in luxury without feeling overwhelming—the ideal getaway whether you’re celebrating something special or searching for an off-the-beaten-path European destination. As we sign off this portion of our travel series “Desi Couple On The Go,” stay tuned for more adventures across Europe where history meets modernity at every corner!

And remember: every place holds a story waiting to be told; all you need is curiosity (and maybe a camera!) to discover them.
