The allure of Cape Verde has long captivated travelers seeking a blend of African and Portuguese influences set against a stunning backdrop of volcanic landscapes and sparkling coastlines. In my latest travel series, I take you on a captivating seven-day journey through this archipelago, highlighting my experiences at the RIU Touareg in Boa Vista, exploring local culture, cuisine, and the breathtaking natural beauty of Cape Verde.
#### Day 1: Arrival in Boa Vista
Our adventure begins with our arrival at Aristides Pereira International Airport. The warmth of the tropical air is as welcoming as the locals’ smiles. A short drive brings us to the RIU Touareg resort, an oasis that blends luxury with local architectural styles effortlessly. The first day is all about settling in, enjoying a refreshing swim in one of the resort’s large pools, and savoring a delicious dinner under the starlit African sky.
#### Day 2: Exploring RIU Touareg
The RIU Touareg impresses with its expansive facilities designed to cater to both families and adults only. With a tour around the resort captured on my vlog, I showcase its plush amenities including themed restaurants, wellness centers, and entertainment activities. The highlight is undoubtedly its position right on the white sandy beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see.
#### Day 3: Santa Monica Beach
Named after Los Angeles’ famous beach but exuding its own unique charm, Santa Monica Beach in Boa Vista is unspoiled and expansive. Today’s vlog captures horseback riding along the shoreline — an unforgettable experience where you feel connected to nature in every sense. The drone shots offer spectacular views of where desert meets sea.
#### Day 4: Cultural Immersion in Sal Rei
On day four we head to Sal Rei, Boa Vista’s charming capital. The vlog dives into local culture visiting markets brimming with colorful textiles and crafts made by local artisans. We chat with friendly locals explaining their craft, providing viewers insights into Cape Verdean daily life and traditions.
#### Day 5: Quad Biking Adventure
Mid-week calls for an adrenaline rush; thus we venture out on quad bikes across rugged terrains surrounding our resort. This exhilarating experience is documented with helmet-mounted cameras capturing every twist and turn amidst dramatic landscapes that characterize much of Boa Vista’s inland areas.
#### Day 6: Salt Mines Tour
Our next journey takes us to Pedra de Lume salt mines located on Sal Island (day trip from Boa Vista). Here we learn about this historic site’s importance during colonial times through guided tours that delve into how salt extraction was carried out years ago. Floating effortlessly in one of the salt evaporation ponds offers both a surreal experience for us and unique footage for our viewers.
#### Day 7: Leisure at RIU Touareg & Departure
Our final day allows us time to unwind back at RIU Touareg indulging in spa treatments reflecting traditional African techniques combined with modern pampering treats. As night falls we enjoy one last gala dinner showcasing Cape Verdean music and dance performed by talented local artists — a fitting end to our week-long escapade.
