### I Explored 7 States in Nigeria in 6 Days!

Traveling across Nigeria, a country brimming with cultural diversity and geographical splendor, is an adventure that promises excitement and eye-opening experiences. Recently, I embarked on a whirlwind tour, exploring seven distinct states in just six days. From the bustling streets of Lagos to the historic landmarks of Kano, each state offered a unique glimpse into the heart and soul of Nigeria.

#### Day 1: Lagos – The Commercial Hub

My journey began in Lagos, the economic powerhouse of Nigeria. Despite its notorious traffic jams, Lagos is a city full of life and energy. I visited the Lekki Conservation Centre, where I walked along the longest canopy walkway in Africa. The view from above was breathtaking! A quick tour through the bustling Lekki Market gave me insights into local crafts and artworks.

#### Day 2: Oyo – Tradition meets Modernity

Next on my list was Oyo State. I explored the ancient city of Ibadan, witnessing a blend of colonial architecture and modern buildings. The University of Ibadan’s zoological garden was particularly impressive. In the evening, I enjoyed Amala and Gbegiri soup, a local delicacy that tantalized my taste buds.

#### Day 3: Osun – The Land of Sculpture and Waterfalls

In Osun State, I marveled at the sculptures in Erin-Ijesha Waterfall (also known as Olumirin Waterfall). Climbing up its seven levels was challenging but rewarding with picturesque views at every turn. Later, I visited the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove, which is rich with Yoruba history and culture.

#### Day 4: Enugu – The Coal City

Arriving in Enugu State, known for its rolling hills and lush vegetation due to its location on the edge of the Udi Plateau. A visit to the National Museum there provided deep insights into Igbo culture. The highlight was a serene evening spent at Ngwo Pine Forest where pine trees form a picturesque backdrop against crystal-clear streams.

#### Day 5: Cross River – Nature’s Paradise

Cross River welcomed me with open arms to its renowned hospitality. In Calabar, I visited the Cross River National Park which is renowned for its biodiversity including primates like gorillas and chimpanzees. Calabar’s charm also lies in its historical sites like the Slave History Museum which offers poignant insights into Nigeria’s colonial past.

#### Day 6: Rivers – Port Harcourt’s Pulsating Heartbeat

My final destination was Rivers State where Port Harcourt taught me about Nigeria’s oil-driven economy firsthand through visits to some industrial sites. However, it wasn’t all business; taking a boat ride along Bonny Island provided peaceful respite from busy city life.

### Conclusion

This rapid tour across seven states offered more than just sights; it provided valuable lessons about resilience and cultural pride among Nigerians from various walks of life. Each state had its own story that contributed to an enriched understanding of this vast country known as “The Giant of Africa.” If you’re considering an African adventure that combines urban exploration with natural beauty—Nigeria should definitely be on your list!
