Recently, I had the pleasure of exploring Taiwan, an island that is not only rich in culture and history but also renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and warm hospitality. From the bustling streets of Taipei to the tranquil beauty of Taroko Gorge, my journey through Taiwan was both exhilarating and enlightening.
### Arrival in Taipei
My adventure began in Taipei, Taiwan’s capital city known for its vibrant street food scene and impressive skyscrapers. One cannot visit Taipei without marveling at Taipei 101, once the tallest building in the world. The view from the observation deck on the 89th floor was nothing short of spectacular, providing a panoramic view of the sprawling city below.
Taipei is also a haven for food lovers. The night markets, such as Shilin and Raohe, offer an array of delicious treats from stinky tofu to beef noodle soup. Each dish was a delightful surprise to my taste buds, painting a vivid picture of Taiwanese culinary prowess.
### Cultural Riches
No trip to Taiwan would be complete without immersing oneself in its rich cultural heritage. The National Palace Museum was a highlight, housing an extensive collection of ancient Chinese imperial artifacts and artworks that were relocated from Beijing’s Forbidden City. Walking through it felt like traversing through centuries of Chinese history.
In addition to historical sites, I explored several temples, each telling its own story of faith and tradition. The Longshan Temple in Taipei stood out with its intricate carvings and serene atmosphere—a testament to Taiwan’s spiritual heritage.

Seeking tranquility away from urban buzz led me to Taiwan’s natural wonders. Taroko National Park was an absolute marvel with its majestic Taroko Gorge at its heart. Hiking through trails surrounded by towering marble cliffs and watching the Liwu River carve through the gorge was breathtakingly beautiful.
The Sun Moon Lake further south offered peaceful boat rides and picturesque bike paths around the lake’s perimeter. The calm waters coupled with mist-shrouded mountains formed landscapes so serene they seemed almost surreal.

What truly made my trip memorable were the people I met along the way. Taiwanese are known for their hospitality, and I experienced this firsthand—from locals helping me navigate bus routes to vendors cheerfully explaining their recipes at markets. Language barriers were rarely an issue; smiles are universal!
