Upon arrival, the vibrancy of the city was palpable. The East meets West ambiance is evident as Ottoman influences fuse seamlessly with Austro-Hungarian architecture. However, Sarajevo bears scars that serve as poignant reminders of its tumultuous past, particularly from the 1990s conflict. Buildings pockmarked by shrapnel are common, yet there&#8217;s a sense of resilience and revival that can&#8217;t go unnoticed.<\/p>\n<p>### A Walk Through History<\/p>\n<p>We started our exploration in Ba\u0161\u010dar\u0161ija, Sarajevo\u2019s old bazaar. Here, copper artisans craft their wares as they have for centuries. The air was filled with the scent of \u0107evapi \u2014 local grilled meat delicacies \u2014 tempting us at every turn. As we ventured further, we visited the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, a prime example of Ottoman architecture and influence in Bosnia.<\/p>\n<p>Moving on from Ba\u0161\u010dar\u0161ija led us to the Latin Bridge \u2014 an iconic historical site near where Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in 1914, sparking World War I. This bridge represents a tangible connection to world history right at our feet.<\/p>\n<p>### A Shocking Discovery<\/p>\n<p>Our next destination was meant to be a routine visit to the Gallery 11\/07\/95, but it turned out to be anything but ordinary. This gallery houses an exhibition dedicated to the Srebrenica massacre \u2014 one of the most heart-wrenching events during the Bosnian War. The powerful photographs and narratives brought tears to many visitors\u2019 eyes, including ours. It was a sobering reminder of the atrocities humans are capable of committing against each other. The ride itself was breathtakingly scenic, featuring rolling hills and quaint villages tucked away under lush greenery.<\/p>\n<p>Arriving in Mostar felt like stepping into a storybook where East once again meets West amidst cobblestone streets.
